summer hobby

This has been the summer of sugar cookies, so I thought I'd share a few pics.  I always feel weird and super vulnerable revealing pictures of things that I make for some reason, but I am realizing that this is me...that I love to "try" to create things (whether they turn out or not...often the latter), and maybe I should share more of myself.  I must say, though, that I am going to take a lil break from making sugar cookies because it takes me forever!  Most of these were gifts for people except the birdie ones were from Anniston's birthday.  Happy Monday!

Those were beach themed, by the way :).

life through my phone, yet again...

So, today's post is another assortment of phone pics from the last few weeks since I am once again terribly behind on getting pictures uploaded from my camera.

And, to add to my slacker-mom-ness (so not a word) this past week, I am seeing that half of these pictures were taken when Anniston was in the middle of getting dressed (diaper pics) or was in her pj's...oh well.

This Ruston Peach Festival onesie IS very cute, though!  Thanks Janjan!!

Oh my goodness...I could write for days about how much this little girl loves to "read".  If she needs motivation to do ANYTHING, a book will work.  I seriously think, barring the whole eating and sleeping thing, she would be content to sit in one place and turn the pages in her books ALL day.  They have been lifesavers.  We use books to keep her quiet and entertained during church and when we are at restaurants.

LOVES her daddy.  Doesn't cry when mamma exits the room, but when daddy leaves for work...tears.  Oh, and I learned yesterday that using a blender apparently causes tears as well...big, fat, raindrop kind of tears.  It was pitiful.

The next two pictures are pretty over a month, but I love them:

Giving sugar :).

Helping me open the mail.

GG came a few weeks ago to play...we had fun!

I didn't take this one or the next with my phone, but somehow they were saved in my pics so I had to add them :).  My friend, Melissa, took them during our play time a couple of weeks ago, and I hope she doesn't mind that I share!  These are Anniston's two best friends right now, Walt and Sawyer.  She insisted on giving Walt sugar SEVERAL times yesterday!  His mamma, Amanda, better watch out!!

She looks so old to me in this pic with her bud, Sawyer.  I'm sure she has tried to give him sugar as well.  If not, it's just a matter of time!  These are the sweetest boys.

Giving her Grandpa sweet eyes at lunch last week...those were the most special moments.  She would just keep looking at him and lighting up with big grins and smiley eyes.

And, drumrollllll!!:

Last night, Anniston pulled/climbed all the way up onto the couch cushion (on the floor) all by herself!!!  She used both arms!!!  It was difficult, and I heard lots of grunting, but she wanted that book SO bad!! ha  I was so proud of her, I could hardly contain myself.  See both knees under her, too??  Yay!!  I took this picture to show her therapists today.  They were so proud, too!  I cannot tell you how thankful we are for them, by the way.

Trying on her LaTech cheerleader outfit from last year...still fits somehow.  Note the tear making its way onto her cheek.  She was tired of playing dress-up :).

Sweetest, most loving baby ever.

happy birthday, gg!!

We love you and hope you are having a fabulous day!!!

PS:  Any enlightenment on how to post to blog via iphone?  I've been having trouble...  I am sure it's alot easier than I'm making it out to be...

PPS:  How is this picture so large and all the rest are so small when I would rather they were bigger?  Nevermind...maybe I fixed it??

But mom, I LOVE YOU!  :)

uplifting appointment!

Anniston had an awesome neurology appointment yesterday, and I just had to share!  It was really only a routine check-up, but we had prayed for further encouragement, and encouragement is definitely what we received.  A super-nice resident saw her first, and he just kept saying what a "massive" stroke Anniston had.  When I tell people she had a stroke, I think most assume it was minor, but was huge.  He said if an adult had the stroke she had, they would not be  I haven't talked about her stroke much until lately because I think I've still been digesting it all.  It was so hard to believe.  That along with the seizures afterward was the hardest time.

We were actually the last people at the clinic to have an appointment yesterday, so he and Anniston's neurologist took us to their little station in the hallway to show us pictures again (us being me and my mom).  The pictures were taken during a CT scan shortly after her strokes (there was a smaller stroke on the right side of her brain, too, that they never talk about since it won't affect her).  The CT image just looks like a black and white picture of her brain with a large gray area over basically half of her brain, with that gray area being the stroke.  Anyway, the doctors just kept looking at us and saying that she is doing SO well, and they almost seemed like they couldn't believe the progress she has made.  We just have to give God all of the glory!!  She is truly a miracle.

This was good for me.  I so often look at the mountain ahead of us that I forget just how far we have already been brought by our merciful Savior.  I cried almost half of the drive home just thinking about how blessed we are that she is doing so well and thanking God for sparing us from so many things that we may never know.  I realize that people have been through FAR worse, but just going through the trials we have been through, we absolutely could NOT have made it without Jesus's love and healing power.  If you do not have a relationship with Him, please pray and give Him your will NOT regret it!!

Another highlight of yesterday's appointment was that we met the sweetest mom and her teenage daughter in the waiting room.  Taylor, the daughter, was a gorgeous 10th grader who had a very large stroke when she was three, but you would not even know.  It was amazing meeting them and hearing their story.  Seeing how well Taylor is doing affirmed me more than they probably know, and I look forward to keeping in touch with them!  If you are reading this, it was SO nice to meet you, Tammy and Taylor!  Thank you for sharing your amazing story with me :).

"Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be the glory in Christ Jesus forever and ever.  Amen."  Ephesians 3:20-21

meet our friend:

People usually laugh when I tell them about this, but Anniston very much enjoys playing with her friend, herself, everyday!  She is able to be around more people now, but back when I was wanting her to have more interaction with children, one of her therapists recommended laying a tall mirror sideways on the ground so that she could have a playmate her age :).  It was a hit!  She has always loved interacting with herself in the mirror, but I just had never thought about putting one on the floor for some reason.  We don't leave it out all the time, but she does love giving her friend sugar, making shy faces at her, and laughing, smiling, dancing, etc... with her :).

Pardon the fingerprints and slobber marks on the glass...she just loves her so much!

PS:  We were in the middle of getting dressed.
PPS:  Note the chunky legs :).

Oh!  And, here she is playing with a couple of her "real" friends yesterday!  She loves them so much, too!
